Bali National Golf Club is located on the eastern portion of South Kuta and is right next to the main strip of resorts on that part of Bali. It is less than 10 minutes from most of the major resorts and 20 minutes from the airport.
Course Views: 10/10
Bali National Golf Club is beautifully manicured in every facet. The surrounding foliage is gorgeous and adds to the immersion and expereience. Personally, I find this course very appealing with its design and flowing fairways. The surrounding villas are also gorgeous to look at and you even get some ocean views from a couple holes.
Pro Shop: 5/5
The Pro-Shop is nicely sized with plenty of gear including branded gear for you to take home. Prices are reasonable.
Practice Facilities: 10/10
The driving range at Bali National Golf Club is a short drive in your cart from the main clubhouse. The maximum distance on the driving range is 180 yards. No woods or drivers are allowed. You hit off mats and balls are available for purchase in the clubhouse. I didn’t see anyone using a short game area but saw there is a bunker and small green next to the putting green which is likely the short game area. There is a small putting green there as well which is representative of the greens on the course.
Full locker room and shower facilities are also available.
The restaurant, formally named The Golfer’s Lounge, is located in the main clubhouse had a full menu with more traditional dishes. There is also a patio with great views of the 18th green. The prices are more than reasonable.
The caddies at Bali National were excellent. They offered great yardage advice, accurate reads of the greens, course tips, and a good understanding of English. They were also fun and made for an experience on the course. This was affirmed by my playing partners who stated they are the best caddies of any course in Bali.
Please remember to tip your caddy!
Rentals/Golf Cart: 5/5
Golf cart is included in the green fee without GPS but had a cooler with water that was free. Premium rental clubs are also available.
Fairway Condition: 9.5/10
The fairways at Bali National Golf Club were immaculate and in fantastic shape. Divots were well repaired throughout and the grass was cut to perfection. There was the occasional soft/muddy area but for the most part, perfect fairways.
Rough Condition: 10/10
The rough was extremely well kept and was properly cut in all areas. The different cuts of rough were all very well maintained. The rough merely isn’t there as a requirement, it adds to the beauty of the course.
Sand Trap Condition: 7/10
Unfortunately, the bunkers were not very consistent. They varied between soft pack and fluffy to hard pack and not being able to get under the ball. The sand quality was great but not consistent bunker to bunker which is frustrating.
Greens Conditions: 4.5/5
The greens at Bali National Golf Club are in top shape. They stimped around 10.5 and boy, were they quick. While they were very fast, they rolled true and were consistent throughout. They were also soft and receptive. Beware, don’t bank on every shot checking and spinning, some balls seemed to just skip along the green especially green-side chips. There were only a couple patched up areas or thinned out areas.
Fringe conditions were excellent. The grass was tightly cut and very well maintained. It is so well taken care of it’s reasonable to putt from. There were also a handful of landing areas at some holes.
Par 3's: 5/5
Bali National Golf Club did a great job with the Par 3’s. All of the par 3’s had a water feature except one which had large sand features. The design wasn’t too challenging but the wind made for a challenging experience with the wind being against the tee shot at all the Par 3’s I faced. There are two island greens which as always fun and a great addition to the course. Another fun addition is that all the Par 3’s have a Hole in One prize varying from free flights on Garuda Indonesia to free rounds of golf.
For 2,300,000 IDR ($162 USD) in the mornings, this course is a tremendous pick. Truly a no-brainer and must play here in Bali. The course offers excellent course conditions, a formidable challenge, beautiful scenery, and great experience. All around a great pick and great value.
Final Rating: 95/100
Bali National takes the cake for best course in Bali and best course ever reviewed by Traveling Tee Times. This course is nearly perfect in every aspect from the facilities to the fairways, greens, and staff. I wish I could have played it more and am looking forward to returning to experience it again.
